Days at home.

The days are priceless and I'm fond of a simple routine and mostly quiet days at home.  What do we do all day?  We wake (with the sun), we rock, we nurse, we sip coffee (usually cold), we craft,  we paint, we diaper, we make mud pies, we read, we nurse, we diaper, we bathe, we hush, we soothe, we cook, we (sometimes) get dressed, we nap, we walk, we call daddy at work, we rock, we play at the park, we nurse again, we diaper, we launder a whole lot, occasionally we playdate,
but more often than not, the day stretches out so quickly that the sun is falling down behind the granite hills and we slip into dinner, bath and bedtime and we hope to sleep, oh dear sweet, precious sleep. These days we are lucky if one or both girls sleeps for a few consecutive hours.  Growth spurts? Whether or not, this is what we do...and each of these simple days I cherish.

THREE.

September 21, 2013 my first born turned three.  She is enthusiastic, compassionate, determined, fiery, and thoughtful.  She leaps out of bed each day at the first sign of morning light and has boundless energy all day long. Her favorite color is pink and half our conversations revolve around what everyone's favorite color is.  She dreams of having a pet to call her own and wants to be friends with everyone she meets.

It's a joy to watch her grow, learn and to experience the world again through her eyes.

Happy 3rd Birthday my Chloe!

(Even if this post is 6 months late.  She already looks older since these photos.)

She is Three.

Every parent says it, but the day your children are born is the happiest day of your life.  This is so true, but with the years that follow the love grows and grows and you look back on those first days as a parent and are filled with entirely new love for the experiences and the way your heart stretched in ways you never expected.  Each day, and year is a gift.  Sitting in our sun-filled family room on the morning of Chloe's birthday with six week old Remy in my arms my heart felt so full.  We celebrated the way Chloe requested, with chocolate, pink and ponies.  It was a simple breakfast celebration with family and Chloe was (is) very loved.

It was October.

It's been months since I've even turned on the computer.  These days I answer email from my phone with a baby in one arm.  I've debated even continuing my blog.  After all I have 9 readers, and little time or inspiration.  But I know it is a great place to record family memories and save them for our girls.  I'm gonna try to make more time to record and recount memories before they pick up too quickly for me to catch-up.  Excuse the back track (if there is anyone out there still following along.)

So, back 6 months ago, it was October.  We were exhausted, but we pumpkin patched, dressed-up and experienced our first trick or treating.  We visited about 10 houses on our cul-du-sac; Chloe loved it all.  But mostly, dressing up as a kitty.  And Remy worn Chloe's first Halloween costume too.  Seeing them start these sister memories is so special.
