Giggles in the parking lot.

When you don't expect them at all, the giggles come out of nowhere.  It had been a long day, I think Chloe was as delirious as we were.  I'm glad Kevin caught this candid family moment.  She is so sweet and so silly.

New tricks.

We made a special trip to IKEA last weekend to pick up this pretty blue set of wheels for our little Bloom.  Kevin put it all together and she knew exactly where to take it from there.  She ran around like she had been doing this for weeks.  We got tons of laughs as she giggled and cruised around our tiny living room.  Pick yourself up one, EKORRE Toddle Wagon, best toy purchase we've made.  She and Kevin took it to the park last week so I could nap (flu, YUCK!).  More pictures to come!

What a face?

Turning around with a little help from dad.

We love Giraffes.

Over the weekend we ventured to the zoo to celebrate our friend Penelope's 2nd Birthday.  The carousel, cake and festivities were so much fun.  Isn't it wonderful to watch your children grown up together?

Chloe was a crack up on the carousel.  It was her first ride and she was really excited by all the lights and spinning.  She clapped and clapped, it was pretty darling.  The carousel animals were really unique, I picked out this giraffe and it makes her look so teeny.  A friend gave us a tiny giraffe while we were still at the hospital when Chloe was born, it is her first toy.  I'm always a sucker for sentiment.  Can she please stay small forever?

Isn't the Birthday girl/Photographer so sweet?

Michelle's bundle of joy arrives this December, we can't wait!

In the evening we visited with family at home.  Kevin's Aunt Kris and Cousin Ian were in town from Washington and it was wonderful to introduce them to Chloe for the first time.  Kevin's parents also drove up for the afternoon and we all enjoyed a delicious Mexican dinner on Main Street.  It was a great evening together.  We love having family in town.  I wish I snapped more pictures.

Peace.

Moments like this one make me want her to be small forever.  There is something so pure and precious about a peaceful sleeping babe.

She wants me to be holding her while she naps in the morning.  As much as I'd like to get something done during that time, I instead have decided to soak up the time I get to hold her while she sleeps.  My arms get tired but by next month she will be turning ONE and pouf there she travels into Toddlerhood and she won't want me to hold her forever.  Where did the last 11 months go?  Everyone says that but it really is true.

Today was particularly challenging.  Baby girl is recovering from her first ear infection (milestone?).  The antibiotic has her feeling sick to her stomach and particularly fussy.  So naptime today was extra cherished.  It gave us both time to recharge.

Tonight after yoga I'm reminded I am at peace, all is well.

May I (and you) sleep this peacefully too.

A New Look.

I've been waiting for this day, first pigtail!
Teething.  Still no sign of these elusive teeth.

Puffs.

I adore this girl & smile.

A makeshift tent, just because.

A Special Celebration.

Wish.

A week ago my Mom completed her radiation treatment.  Yep, my sweet mama, she just can't catch a break.  A new batch of tumors have popped up and the doctors recommended radiation to zap those suckers.  The treatments are quick but cause a range of challenges...nausea, memory loss, swelling, seizures...if only I could wrap her up in a soft, warm bubble and keep all this pain away.  For now, we pray, help her heal, rest and cherish time together.

On treatment completion day, my sister, brother and good friend Cecilia cooked up a delicious feast and one tasty cookie pie to celebrate.  Meanwhile, Chloe entertained the bunch and I gave my mom a foot massage.  It was the perfect end to a rigorous couple weeks.

Our feast.

One glowing Gramsy.

Momsy, we sure love you.  Your kind, loving, brave heart is glows amidst such trials.  You make me so proud to call you Mom.

On the Move.

I'm in a bit of a blogging rut or perhaps it's just life has gotten so busy all of the sudden.  I can hardly keep up!  Chloe is on the move.  Crawling, cruising, pulling up on everything (stable or not), climbing the couch and tumbling off, ascending stairs...her curiosities change daily.  I find myself walking a fine line between encouragement of the little explorer and keeping her safe.  We (actually, Kevin gets all the credit) did some baby-proofing to protect her (and my favorite casserole dishes from being innocently broken).  It's pretty hysterical to hear her giggling and squealing as she finds new things to play with.  The joy of simple things.

With this surge of excitement has come an increasing number of quick recharge naps.  I tell you, this baby girl does not nap like most babies.  I have friends whose babies nap for 1.5-3.5 hours in one stretch and sometimes a couple 1 hour naps.  I am sad to admit, I am jealous of this reprieve.  Our little bloom generally naps about 30 minutes at a time and hour if I'm holding her or we are in the car.

Yesterday's nap was less than eco-friendly as I drove around the neighborhood for a much needed air conditioned nap.  Well, she did the napping, I did the driving.  A girls gotta do, what a girls gotta do.  Here we were yesterday, cruising around Huntington Beach.
Iced Passion Tea.  Try it, unsweetened is no calories.  Yum!

Enjoying a slice of quiet.

Nap-time success!

Just being silly.

Today was a lazy day.   The kind I love.

We hung around the house most of day being silly.  We napped, read books, tried on Chloe's first pair of big girl shoes and did lots of laughing.

It was pretty near perfect.

Monday night.

We took at walk to the pier last night to check out the US Open of surfing.  We (I) hoped we might catch a glimpse of Kelly Slater.  Downtown was bustling with people and really felt like summer.  A two mile walk and lots of people watching later, we were back home to tuck the babe into bed and have a mellow evening before hitting the hay ourselves.  I love that we can walk to so many places near our home and enjoy the best of summer steps away from our front door.
Can't it be summer forever?

Oahu. Part two.

We Luau'd.
Tour of the Doris Duke estate, Shangra La.

I was in art heaven at Shangra La.

I love this girl!

Then we returned for more beach time.  We napped, we lounged, we ate, we swam and we even took some paddle boards for a spin.  I have to brag that I didn't fall once... I have pictures to prove it.  I'm just not posting any this early post baby.  We all had so much fun!
Kahala Beach.

They melt my heart.

Yummy, Soba Salad.
